Congress protests across Gujarat against petrol price hike - see how Congress leaders arrested by police


It was announced today that the Gujarat Congress district headquarters would stage a sit-in and protest against the hike in petrol and diesel prices by the Gujarat government. Protests were held in several districts today. So Congress workers have been detained in many districts.
The protest was staged by the Ahmedabad District Congress Committee. Protests erupted over rising petrol and diesel prices. Demanded withdrawal of price hike through banner and slogan. Along with petrol and diesel, property tax has also been demanded to waive the first semester fees and light bills of the school. Corona and Lockdown have demanded waivers of property taxes, light bills and school fees as people's economic conditions have deteriorated.
Also in Mehsana, a symbolic picket was held today by the district Congress to protest against the petrol price hike. The protest was attended by the city president and corporators, including a district congressional team. Protest slogans were chanted after paying homage to the martyrs by keeping social distance. The withdrawal of petrol and diesel price hike was opposed. A tight police cordon was set up amid congressional protests. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.
The Congress also staged a protest at Trikon Bagh in Rajkot. Protested on bicycles over rising petrol and diesel prices. Leaders, including the president of the Gujarat Women's Congress, joined the protest.
A protest program of Congress workers was held in Junagadh. City President Amit Patel carried a bottle of gas on his shoulder and reached the statue of Gandhiji in protest. Leaders including district president Natubhai Ponkia city president Amit Patel protested with banners. Congress leaders observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to the martyred soldiers on the Chinese border near the statue of Gandhiji.
The Congress also staged a protest at Chowk Bazar in Surat. Protests against rising petrol, diesel and electricity bills were held with banners in hand. In which the leaders including the President of Gujarat Mahila Congress joined. The activists were detained by police.
Symbolic dharna was also organized by Patan District Congress today. They carried banners with social distance. Activists, including the district president, joined the picket. The activists were detained as the Congress-organized symbolic picket was not sanctioned by the police. Six activists, including the district president, were detained. All were taken to Patan city A division police station.
The issue of petrol and diesel prices was opposed by the Morbi District Congress. District Congress leaders protested with banners on Shanala Road. Activists including District Panchayat President Kishore Chikhalia, former District Congress President Mukesh Gami were also present. 'BJP hi hi….' They were detained as soon as Congress leaders and activists took to the streets.
